Belgium 22.03.2015

My Summary of the Day.

Today was a very normal day for so many people around the world and inparticular, the people of Brussels Belgium, that was until the devestation and carnage took place in what can only be described as madness. My understanding is that three explosions took place today in the mids of rush hour, two in the airport and one on the undeerground train system, all I susspect were designed to create maximum damage and impact. The last I heard, 31 inocent people died with many more injured and my thoughts and my prayers were with them and their families.

I don't truly understand what all of this madness is about, except to say that I no longer believe a word that the propergander mongers from both sides want me to believe but what I can say is "why". I have never understood why the West have sought to tell the Middle East how to behave when it has not got it's own house in order by a long way. On the other hand, I don't understand how the Middle East show such disreguard for human life and as such I see wrong on both sides with no right on either.

The One common aspect that we will all need to accept at some point is that despite our culutres, or religion, or traditions our lifestyle, we all share a space on planet earth and instead of fighting and killing each other, it's time we learned to accept each others values and differences and showed respect to the fact that we are all not the same and culture and traditions are personal and should be understood through education and not dictation.

I have been to Belgium many times and seen peeopl who are just like me. They work hard, they struggle to manage their lives and they and honest, respectful people. God knows why they have been singled out to suffer such pain but what I do know is I have no understanding of their pain and suffering today. God Bless You All.

24th March 2016

I have been a little quiet this week and in the main that was in respect of the Belgium situation, it is always good to smile and laugh but there is also a time and a place and this week was neither the right time or the right place to make any kind of humourous comment. I do want to end this page and week by saying that whilst the problem was a direct attack on Belgium, in many ways we all became European this week and united in the grief that was created in belgium and like a wave at sea, quickly gained momentum across the whole of the civilised world. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Belgium this week and in particular, the families of the victims.

26th March 2016

I end the week as I started the week on quite a sombre note. It was the news of the sad loss of a great footballing hero of mine and a legend to the sport, Mr Johan Cruyff to whom the sport owes so much to such a talented and respected person. I feel that Holland have lost a true hero to so many. I grew up watching the world cup in the 70s and Johan was the outstanding talent of all time to me, here was a player from Europe who showed the world that the best does not always come from Brasil. I do not wish to speak of such a legen as though I am any expert, quite  the opposite but I can say I was a true admirere or such a talent and modest person who brought such pleasure and enjoyment to so many and as such I would prefer that I leave it to someone else to make there tribute to the great person Johan Cruyff.

27th March 2016

I can't end the week without a mention of some of the event's that took place over the weekend, with our very own Kell Brook winning his boxing match at the Sheffield Arean in front of his home crowd agains a Canadian challenger with a good past record, Im given to understand that this is the first time ever that the Candian has ever been stopped before. My final congratulations is to the England football team he stood tall after going 2-0 down and finding some true quality to overturn the two goals and win by 3-2. I truly saw some never say die attitude in the English team last night and it brought some real pride to myself. Lets hope the game against Holland is as entertaining too this week.

1st April 2016
It was that crazy day in the year when everyone.........and I do mean everyone appears to want to play a trick or joke on someone. I noticed the news papers were joining in, the TV companies were playing pranks and even the radio stations were making stories up to make an April fools prank on us all. It's a great tradition and as laughter is the best medcine and to the best of my knowledge is still free, I still support it in every way.
I want to add my name to the long list of people who paid tribute to a comic genius who very sadly passed away this week and is the one and only Ronnie Corbett. A true genius of punch lines and situation comedy, but could deliver a line better than just about anyone. Ronnie was known i the show business world as a genius of unique comedy but outside of the stage and theatre, he was also blessed and known for his kind and friendly ways, a true gentleman and a sad loss, out thoughts are with his family and friends today.
Today was the first & second free practive sessions in Bahrain and the dominant Mercedes were showing a clean set of heels, the surprise package for me was Jenson Button who set the 3rd quickest time of the day, it will be interesting if he can maintain that in the 3rd practice session and more importantly, qualifying session. Vettel dropped out with what appeared to be a drive shaft problem, I expect Ferrari to be placed high up the grid tomorrow although not sat on pole. I also predict that Renault will perform well as Bahrain is not a power circuit, I would say for the optimistic amongst you all, keep an eye on Verstappen from the Netherlands as he's hungry to make a name and impress.

Spring has officially arrived in 2016

It's officially Spring.

Apparently, spring means that the days are now officially longer than the nights but sometimes it takes some believing. However, the daffodills are out, the crocusses are in full blume and the cows are in the fields so who am I to argue the point.

Being a keen bird watcher, I expect to start and hear sky larks soon and the return of Lapwings and Osprey, followed shortly afterwards by swallow's, swifts, sandmartins and house martins. We don't really get Cukoo here as they tend to focus upon read warbler nests to invade and we don't have many reeds here. However, the Green Woodpecker, Greater & lesser Spotted Wodpecker and of plenty and bot Tawny & Barn Owl thrive quite well here. Or permanent Herron is always a guarding pest on the local pond and both Blackbird & Tit family are all starting to build nest's. We have a good population of duck here and one particular one called Macdonald will be dead very soon as Im told that the game shooter has him in his sights.

Last week was the family meet up at St Patricks day and the day as always was long and happy, pitty the English can't find a way of enjoying St Georges day. All you need is a barrell and an excuse and it's game on. Im told there is a barrell in the west country that will go down very quickly soon and it will be down for a few years to come. Im quite busy this week at Holmfirth/Huddersfield and under pressure to get organised a bit quicker by both seller and buyer.

20th March 2016.

It is officially the first day of spring and you could be forgiven for thinking it was early summer today as it was quite warm in the sun. As the skies were blue and the air was fresh, I took the opportunity to take some pictures and hense I drove up to Cannon Hall which has many features of interest when it come to photography. After a few hours of click click, I decided to pop to the office and as such drove over the back road past Emley and down the hill to Holmfirth, it was swarming with tourists today. I did find time and a swift glass of the black stuff though.

I was on my travels today and our graphic designer showed me a message with a mesage within, I thought I would share that with you below. Its quite humourous but also quite truthful in these times of hardship.

On my way across Sheffield, I passed some artwork, presumably made by the steel works as a tribute to the craftmanship they are able to produce. Ifyou look below, you will see a huge steel scorpion wich lives outside Forgemasters in Sheffield.

My friend the graphic designer game me this picture to share with the cheeky women who often write to me to support my determination. I thank them all from the bottom of my heart.

Whilst the sun was out and the skies were blue (usually a feature of winter not summer) it was a good excuse to take some pictures of Cannon Hall and the surrounding gardens.

A very common sign that spring has arrived in England is the abundence of daffodils, crocus and snowdrops, with Bluebells due in a few weeks time.

As you will note from the above pictures, the crocus and thriving very well in and amongst the trees of Cannon Hall.

Here is whats commonly known in England as a monkey puzzle tree. I have no idea why it's called this as we have no native monkeys living in the UK and despite the suggestion that the trees are imported, History prooves this to be false as the semi precious gem stone known as "Jet" is made from pre-historic forrests of this tree and one of the most common places to find "Jet" in England is in the north east of Yorkshire in a town known as Whitby where a very vibrant industry of Jet production has been in existance for many years and the product is found locally in the ground.

This plant, "whatever it is known as", appears to thrive quite well here at Cannon Hall. It reminds me a plant I have seen growing in Argentian in the high andes but weather it is related is something I have no idea about.

As anyone who follows my Facebook account will know, I have used this sceen & view as a picture on many occasions. The colours in the background change with the variety of seasons we are lucky enough to benefit from in the UK, as it is early in spring, green is in abundance today.

St Patrick's Day 2016

St Patrick's Day 2016.

It took a whole year to come around and a wait well worth the time. As all of my friends and family know, St Patrick's day is the day when I meet up with all of my friends and family from far and wide for a whole day of madness.

Tomorrow will start early for me as I have an early start with Mr Guinness in Huddersfield at 08.00am, then a quick dash over to the warehouse at Holmfirth to spend an hour in the office and share a wee dram of Jameson's with the staff before a quick dash to the boys from across the Irish Sea for the rest of the day.

Im always excited about the days with my mates from across the water, but as Im with them as aposed to them with me, it's going to be even more special. Strangely, good friend Brendan will be meeting me at the airport when I arrive, I hope he is able to walk and drive.......

It's a happy time and fun time but for me a very special time to be around my family and friends. St Patrick is always an good excuse to have a knees up and on occasions a fall down with my close family and friends. Dublin is always a special place in my heart but on a day such as tomorrow, it goes an extra mile to remind me of the old days.

For all of my friends who are lucky enough to be accepted on Facebook as a follower, I will of course be posting some pictures and video of the day with Guinness and the dance we are booked to be a guest at. For those who do not gain access to my Facebook followers, you can always send me a request and who know's, I may even accept you.

Please have a great day wherever you will be on St Patricks day and if you are in Dublin, who know's, we may even see each other. Im at the Guinness event in town, I don't have the addressas my friend Brendan is collecting me but I susspect it's a big white tent in town.

17th March was a great night out, as expected. Here are some of the video's from the Gig in Dublin to which much of it is still a blur.

This was where the Gig was in the heart of Dublin. Many people were outside sat on the grass as it was so nice outside but inside it was tightly packed out with many party goers.

Spring 2016

Spring 2016

Spring is normally such a busy period for myself as photography is a pastime and passion and the colours provided by mother nature are simply stunning and the best affect to which nature offers a gift that free is the gift of blue skies. There is no reason to use creativity to turn white skies to blue and this makes life just that bit less stressful.

Whilst I have been spending a lot of time in Huddersfield since the start of the new year, and to those who know why, the secret will be launched later in the year but for now we need to keep drawing the fire at the old target to keep the nosey thinking they know whats happening.

I do have a slight moan to offer my friends today but with a happy ending. I had some problems with my computer last week and typically I packed it up and took it to PC world. They kept it a week and then called me on Saturday and asked me to call in. I visited the store and they explained that they were working hard on repairing the computer and that it should be done by Sunday, but that they had worked every day tirelessly on fixing the problem. I could not make it on Sunday as I was at the warehouse on Holmfirth and as such called in Monday to meet a different member of staff. This person told me a totally different story and I was horrified. He told me the hard drive was broken beyond repair and it would cost the following to repair:

  1. £50.00 to send computer to Acer
  2. £100 to install new hard drive
  3. £30.00 to re-install windows 10
Total cost £180. I said I would rather get a new PC. When I returned home, I did a quick internet search and found a local chap who works from home fixing computers and his name was Mr Brian Knott and he runs a very simple service of collect, repair and return to customer called Compucrisis and true to his word, he called, collected it and 2 hours later rang me to say it was completed and working fine. The cost was £39.00 and my computer was returned the next day. I want to say to you all that the Big Guy's (PC World) told me a story that was totally false and this simple honest busines man was instant, reliable and 100% honest. It is so nice and so refreshing today to meet someone truly honest in a world full of crooks. Well done Brian and thank you. I wish to share my story of this wonderful service that can be found at www.compucrisis.co.uk with you all as a way of thanks.

I will be back at the office for the week and quite busy in the process but if the weather holds up, I will be taking some pictures and offering some updates to the blog for you all and hopefully share some pictures and views of nature at it's finest from West Yorkshire and the colours it has to offer.
