Cecil The Lion By Peter Hulbert

31.07.2015

This week has been quite a sufficient week as far as cruelty to wildlife is conscerned and perhaps we have passed a point of no return and a place beyond the milestone to which I for one support. I am of course refering to the mindless slaughter of Cecil the Lion who's life ended by the actions of a Dentist from the USA and in such a painfull and cruel way. The Lion (Cecil) was lured out of safety and protection of a reserve by trackers and for the cost of $60,000 was shot with a bow and arrow of which did not kill Cecil but simply left him in agony for over 40 hours until he finaly could stand the pain no longer when his system gave up the battle to live and his body simply collapsed and Cecil eventually died.

Cecil was not just a wild and free animal but was part of a research project by Oxbridge University to which were to observe his life and use this to manage other lions of which are presently in decline in Africa and for the sake of whatever turns this dentist on, Cecils life ended as a painful exercise in what is the most in-humane way to kill anything and ruin an experiment of which had been going on for so many years by students and lecturers at a UK University.

Here is a short Video showing Cecil the Lion some time ago:

I'm sure I speak for many that the repercussion of the action of this cruel and soul less human is left to fate but if the stories from the press are to be believed, we are told that he has gone into hiding and it is he that has now become the pray and hunted but not by guns but by the media and press. I have little sympathy and his long term fate appears to be not too good.

I have always had a soft spot for animals and in particular, wild animals to whos survival and future depends upon Man allowing nature to do it's thing and be left alone to continue doing whatever it is that wildlife does to keep it's speciese from becoming extinct. This killer has not just selfishly taken a life for his own plessure but the knock on affect is that there is a very real prospect that many other lion cubs will pay the price as a struggle for supremecy within the pride will now take place.

I Peter Hulbert would ask that this so called hobby or sport ends with the memory of Cecil as the final marker post but sadly, I fear it is a wish too many. Please enjoy another story about Cecil below and feel free to pass this message to others.

I have had my say and I know that for the most part, the civilised ones amongst us all will have there say also but I do applaud the TV presenters words below who as I say above, probably speaks for us all and I see no sense and no reason for why anyone would derive pleassure from removing a life from such a wonderful animal. If you need to shoot animals, may I suggest you do it with a camera and share you skills on the internet and allow us all to enjoy the quality of life and not the remorse of death.

The Everly Pregnant Brothers Gig.

25.07.2015

Today was quite a special one as it was the Tramlines Music Festival in Sheffield which is a time when the whole city comes alive and visitors from far and wide appear in order to visit the music venues and bars that all contribute to such a fantastic weekend.

I have always made it a tradition to go to the "Fat Cat" pub to watch the Everly Pregnant Brothers where they play on this special event day but this year they had bought there own pub called Brothers Arms and they were playing here instead. Whilst no one was actually counting, it was suggested that at least 8000 people were there but could have been as many as 10,000 but as I say, "Who's Counting".

Here is a short video that Peter Hulbert took whilst squashed up in the crowd but despite the limited space, it was a very enjoyable time.

The weather was fine, the good humor was excellent and the music was just as expected. This was a day to which Peter Hulbert had waited some 365 days for and will wait another 365 for next years event.. I always say if you are a performer, you should be able to do it live and these guys are a class act live.

A few words of sadness & wisdom.

20.07.2015

I just thought I would share a  few kind words with a sad sentiment to which if anyone knows of someone feeling down or alone, I hope it prompts you to just call them or visit them and share a magical moment in time with them. It will take but a short period but bring them a whole day of enjoyment for a long time to come. Peter Hulbert often takes a little time out to go and see someone from his past or friends of old etc.

A Visit To Emley TV Mast As Viewed By Peter Hulbert.

19.07.2015

Today I decided to have a drive out into the local countryside where the wind over the hills would create a unique and picturesque look, all of it's own. I headed toward Huddersfield on the open road and turned off when I realised just how close I was to Emley Moore TV Mast. For all of those who head out this way, there is a very nice local pub called the 3 Acres of which today and most days you are very likely to bump into the cast of Emmerdale which is a UK soap opera to which is watched by many.

Below is a video of this huge TV mast to which was taken by Peter Hulbert and is quite a spectacle to see when you get close up as I was today.

A few kind words of wisdom

08.07.2015

A Few Kind Words from Peter Hulbert

There's too many of us crying
Sister, Brother, Friend & Other
There's far too many of us dying
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some loving here today.

We don't need to escalate
You see that war is not the answer,
For only love can conquer all the hate
You know we've got to find a way
To bring some loving here today.

Don't punish me with your brutality
Talk to me, so you can see what's going on,
Don’t banish me with your mentality
Lets remain together for our sanity.

Everybody thinks we're so wrong together
Oh, but who are they to judge us forever
Oh, you know we've got to find a way
To bring some understanding here today

My Reflection Of The Seasonal Changes. Peter Hulbert

25.06.2015

Autumn blew it's leaves at me and I stopped and stared through a naked tree, Threatening winter as I walked by and surrounded by an air of silence broken only by the sound of my beating heart.

Summer always goes so quick and barely even stopping un- like my thoughts which pause only to hear the voice of sanity. I dip and spin and change so fast that I simply have to wonder “will I last”.

Through the windows of the train I see the wonderful land in which we reign
I caught a glimpse of a paper cup and reflected on my life as though it could all simply be spilled.

Hanging small in a pale blue sky and wondering as I pass along the track why was it I.
Never knowing which way's up and only knowing there is no more down, who do I trust that won’t lie.

Looking up and beyond the clouds and what's to be found, is there a space in heaven that’s not here on the ground, I have to wonder “will I always be around”.

I sit and think of all the magic moments that we'd spent and I just can't let you go from me.    I didn't mean to hurt you but in the end result I know you didn’t really care.
I am wishing for a star to follow where we are, and I'm praying for a dream to follow where we'll be and I'm praying for a rainbow to find our pot of gold but I know deep in my heart that it will all end so cold.

My Last Few Days Of School By Peter Hulbert

25th June 2015

This is rather a personal update to an event to which my friends from School will remember all too well..............or do they ?

I wasn't a gifted child but more of a free spirited type person who found school rather a bore but felt I had a lot to offer but not in an academic way. Toward the end of my school life, the whole of my class mates and colleges were all interviewed by a "so called expert" with regards to our future prospect of ever being employed. In my instance, I had already been offered an apprenticeship as a carpenter, as was my two really good friends Gary Gowans (Kip) & Mark Gail to whom Kip had been offered an apprenticeship as a hair dresser and Mark had been offered an apprenticeship as a Chef, so quite frankly we didn't give a toss what this interview was going to turn out cos we were ok.

On the day of the interview, we were all called up and told in simple terms we were of average intelligence and had no prospect of finding employment except that they had some positions available as "Silver Smiths". Bear in mind this was 1976 and we didn't know what to do and were quite immature and only 16. However, each and every one of us said politely "Thanks but No Thanks". We were then spoken to by some condescending & arrogant bastard who said, well that's the thanks I get for trying to help. You all deserve what you get which is nothing and no hope of ever making anything of your lives The last time I saw Kip, he had just won the 2nd prize in New York for the international hairdressers competition representing the UK to which he had won 1st prize in the British hairdressers competition. Mark had qualified with outstanding credentials as a Chef and eventually moved to South Africa to a top class Hotel etc. Myself, well...... I completed my apprenticeship and threw in the towel as a carpenter but did move to Investment Banking where I worked in London, New York, San Francisco, Mexico, Switzerland & Canada.

Now, back to the story. After such a condescending and deflating lesson of how grown up's think they know it all and being catagorised as no hoppers, we went on the rampage and as the local school was showing round the kids to whom would be starting at my school in the new years term, so to put it blunt were worried about this infamous school with such a poor record of trouble etc and myself and two friends found a kid whom was in a wheel chair because he had fallen from his bike and broke his chin bone. We wheeled him down the school field and removed the wheels from his chariot, meanwhile, we had also stolen some paint from the art room and bought some eggs from the local shop. We subsequently tied another kid to a drain pipe and painted him in Sheffield Wednesday blue and white and the third kid we tormented got off light as we tied his to a tree and smashed 6 eggs on his head. So for me, school was a pile of shit but the last days were worth a million others at the Hinde House camp for reprobates.

For those who remember the event, I have put a copy of what happened next on the picture below.

For those who enjoy a little less conformity or rebellious nature with a large dose of comedy thrown in, I would suggest you follow us at Twitter or Facebook and lighten up a little.
